Last month SJC hosted the National Evangelization Team (NET) for grade 9-11. We are so thankful to NET, Colm Leyne and Fr. Marino for giving their talents to make these retreats a success. Here’s some quotes from students about their experience: “Everyone needs to slow down sometimes, time flies by and it's difficult to get a moment of silence and peace to really just consider everything. NET retreats give us a moment to slow down and think. Plus it's fun.” Grade 11 Student “The net retreat is such a wonderful organization, that is hosted by amazing people. They share great stories, they are absolutely friendly and they have fun activities that students can participate in.” Grade 10 Student “It’s a fun and creative way to get students interested in growing their faith. It allows students an opportunity to be surrounded with friends and gives them another interactive option in having a relationship with Christ.” Grade 9 Student

SJC Student Spotlight: Sophia Harris! Sophia started Highland Dancing when she was 6, and currently takes lessons at McConnell school of Highland Dance in Medicine Hat. Sophia has enjoyed much success progressing in the sport, with exams (both Highland and National) and competing around Canada. Sophia has visited Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Lethbridge, and Battleford to compete annually. Sophia’s success led her to compete in Scotland, this past August, dancing in Abernathy, Perth, Stirling, and Crieff Highland Games. Sophia won overall in her Intermediate section at Abernathy. During her time competing, Sophia filled her card, moving her into Premier category – the highest level of Highland Dancing to obtain! Sophia’s currently assists in teaching the novice and beginner levels before her class, with a goal to sit for her teacher’s exam for SDTA. Her next adventure will lead her to compete in New Zealand and Australia next year. Way to go, Sophia! SJC is proud of you and all your accomplishments! #GoCrusaders
