Mark your calendars! Next Thursday, February 23rd the JBS Canada Centre will be hosting a Summer Student Job Fair from 1-4pm. Make sure you stop by to check out all the summer employment opportunities here in Brooks!

Students! Recruitment for the 2023/24 Minister’s Youth Council will officially begin on February 15, 2023. The Ministry of Education is looking for approximately 40 junior and senior high school students between the ages of 14 and 19, with diverse interests, identities, backgrounds and perspectives from across Alberta to join next year's council. Of the 40 council members, they will accept up to eight returning members and at least 32 new members. Participating in the council will give students the opportunity to make a real impact on Alberta’s education system, build their leadership skills, and leave a legacy that will last for generations to come. Did you know this semester some of our Religion 9 classes will be taking part in reading buddies? Once a week the grade 9’s will visit their grade 2 buddies at Holy Family Academy where they will read them a story and the grade 2’s read one back to them. During their time at reading buddies, students will also work on building their interpersonal relationship skills. Here’s some pictures of Miss. Next week will be a busy one here SJC! To start things off we will have a spirit week with the return of some of our favourite dress up days. There will also be a photobooth set up in the social area at lunch Monday-Wednesday with props included. Lastly, pre-ordered flowers and candy bags will be delivered Tuesday, February 14th during period 5. Did you know January 25th marks Bell Let's Talk Day? A day to continue the work in breaking down the stigma of mental health support, which is something we are all passionate about. Bell Let’s Talk has a vision of a Canada where everyone can get the mental health support they need. This year is going to be different; Bell is not donating 5c per text or tweet, which they usually do - raising $8.5 million last year. Instead, they are donating a flat fee of $10 million going to a variety of mental health initiatives. Bell Let's Talk has a great website with some useful tools and resources. #EndTheStigma #CTRHealthySchools
