CTR Shares Stories of Gratitude for 30 Years of Catholic Education
During this final week of Advent we rejoice in the endless love that God has for us, which is made apparent in the birth of his Son. We reflect on the good news of God's love brought to us from the angel Gabriel. This is the last week to prepare our hearts for the joy of Christmas. Are you ready? “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” –John 3:16
Celebrating the Feast Day of Saint Thomas the Apostle! Known as "Doubting Thomas," he moved from doubt to unwavering faith, proclaiming "My Lord and my God" upon seeing the risen Christ. Today, we honor his journey and his dedication to spreading the Gospel. Saint Thomas is the patron saint of architects and builders, which makes him the perfect saint for our woodshop and Mr. Kleiboer's SIM! May his story inspire us to seek truth and courage in our own lives. #feastday #simsaints #CTRFaith
Grade 9s are s'more than ready to explore chemical changes! 🍫🔥 Who knew chemistry could be so sweet? #SmoreScience #ChemicalChange #learninginaction #sjcistheplacetobe
Did You Know? Alberta is one of the few provinces in Canada that still has publicly funded Catholic education. The choice of Catholic education is a constitutional right and has been since Alberta became part of Canada in 1905. Catholic education at SJC is publicly funded, and provides families with a faith-based choice for their child. #gocrusaders #sjcistheplacetobe
Did You Know? 93.8% of parents, students and teachers agree that SJC's learning environment is welcoming, caring, respectful and safe. ALL students are welcome here. #gocrusaders #sjcistheplacetobe
TOMORROW AT SJC! Bring your appetite!
Take a look at what’s happening this week at SJC - the last week of classes before Christmas break! ❄️ #gocrusaders #weekataglance
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.” John 14:27
Mrs. Grove’s English 30 class worked on making links between themes, symbols, and characters in Shakespeare’s Hamlet by doing a hexagonal thinking activity to engage critical thinking skills and then writing about their learning. It looks like a crazy activity, but "though this be madness, [...] there is method in't". But since "Brevity is the soul of wit", that's all for a caption for today. #gocrusaders #criticalthinking #2Bornot2B
Next week will be Spirit Week at SJC! #spiritweek #christmas #gocrusaders
Did you know!? SJC offers students the opportunity to participate in and compete in volleyball, cross country, wrestling, football (through Brooks Buffalos), basketball, track and field, soccer and badminton! This year we have 19 teams! #gocrusaders #sjcistheplacetobe
Austin Ludwar is our Alumni Highlight of the Week! "Hey everyone! I'm Austin Ludwar. I'm part of the Class of 2021, and I'm sure most of you know Ms. Brown, (can't really miss her at the front office), but if some of you didn't know, she's my mother. It's been a roller coaster since graduation, I worked for 2 years as a maintenance worker at the Brooks Golf Course, then a brief stint working at SJCs cafeteria and now I'm working at Hermann's Sausage Hut, as a salesman and jerky and sausage maker, and it's the best job I've ever had. I'm also an active member of St. Mary's Parish. My advice to SJC students is to always show up every day to school and be ready to learn, never be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Lastly, Pray, Hope and don't worry. Start your day with prayer and end it with gratitude to God. Read the Bible and learn about the faith. Thanks everyone and God bless 🙏🏻✝️" Thanks for sending in your information Austin, and thanks for being a great model of faith and perseverance for SJC!
Did You Know!? Our very own Mr. Galeski has just released his THIRD novel, "Through Whom the Light Shines". Something to think about from catholicreads.com… “Fiction taught me how to live and breathe and imagine like a Catholic. It is also a key tool of the Church that we are letting lie fallow– and the harm from that is showing. Our nonfiction and academic study know no equal and yet many cradle Catholics fall away by the time they enter adulthood. We train our teachers, [...] and yet sometimes it is not the mind that needs converting, but the heart. Story feeds the heart.” Mr. Galeski's novel is "An extraordinary story of the struggle between satanic evil and grace in the Nazi death camp of Buchenwald, by an author whose research and insight bring the climax to a stunning peak." (from Justin Press). If you are interested in how this story might feed your heart and your advent faith journey, see Mr. Galeski! #gocrusaders #CTRfaith #teacherandauthor
