Tonight, we will be celebrating our Evening of Excellence but, before we do that, we would like to recognize our SJC staff members who received divisional awards this year. The end of the year brings about the pride of completed projects in the woodshop. This semester Grade 9s developed their hand tool skills and some power through various projects while the Sr. woods class learned about Joinery throughout their projects. #SJCLearningInAction #Woodshop

In preparation for STEM Day presented by SJC’s current and prospective Lab Technician’s, Mr. Willemsen and the Lab Techs investigated what happens when a very reactive alkali metal, such as sodium, reacts when placed in a very common solution such as water! We're excited to announce that two of our grade 9 students, Dennise Alverio and Isaac Nichols, each had pieces of writing selected for Christ's the Redeemer's Anthology: Tablets and Doorposts. This past Friday, Dennise and Isaac travelled with Mrs. Liboiron (CTK) and Mrs. Grove to DeWinton, Alberta for the celebration of writing at the Tablets and Doorposts Cafe. Dennise held the audience captivated with her writing about a heart wrenching orphanage relationship, while Isaac had the audience in stitches with his story from the perspective of a dog named Max. Each year, teachers are asked to submit excellent samples of writing to be read by a panel of adjudicators. At the Cafe, students were each asked to read their work to the audience and then recieved a copy of the Anthology along with a $50 gift card to Chapters. Isaac and Dennise: we're so proud of you both! #GoCrusaders

SJC’s Science Laboratory Technicians created a display to showcase Year 1 of CTR’s new Three-Year Faith Theme: “Faith Seeking Understanding” where we will learn how to encounter faith in science, reason, and society. Many may not know that faith and science are closely interconnected. This display highlights the similarities between the two subjects and how science supports and enhances our faith. SJC’s Science Department hopes to unify both staff and students as they encounter Catholic faith in science, reason, and society so that they may become witnesses to the Catholic faith in the subject areas they teach. #TheScienceofFaith #FaithSeekingUnderstanding

Mrs. Schell’s English 30 class viewed and analyzed the play A Streetcar Named Desire last week. They worked on discussing key issues and themes coming out of the play and reviewed what we are meant to learn about life because of the play. #SJCLearningInAction #English30

Congratulations to Erin Strach and Benedict Alfonso on their second year attending the ASAA Track & Field Championships. We are very proud of both of them and their accomplishments!
