Here's a glance at what's happening this week at SJC! #GoCrusaders
After learning about Momentum and Impulse, Mrs. Bauyon’s Physics 30 class conducted the “Egg Crash: Designing a Collision Safety Device” Activity. Students observed and documented the effectiveness of safety devices such as seatbelts and airbags by designing, testing, and evaluating a safety device to protect an egg during a collision. #EggTest #SafetyDevice #SeatbeltsAirbags #SJCInAction
Mrs. Bauyon’s Physics 20 class has been exploring the acceleration due to gravity in their Kinematics Unit. Students performed an inquiry lab to determine the acceleration due to gravity of a free-falling object. #Newton #FallingApple #SJCInAction
Congratulations to Mrs. Stevens who was our recipient of the Christian Witness Award! Lynne Stevens is unwaveringly dedicated to embodying Catholic values and being a faith example at SJC. Lynne is a strong role model for staff and students. She is always willing to help those in need, is always giving of her time for prayer for our community, and is always sharing her faith with those around her. One will often find Lynne in the chapel at lunch or at St. Mary's Parish praying for others and her own intentions; she always welcomes staff and students to join her. As well, she is a valuable faith resource for many individuals seeking guidance and understanding in their own faith journeys. Overall, Lynne embodies the ideals of the Christian Witness Award and is a shining example of what it means to live a life of faith and service. Her contributions to St. Joseph's Collegiate community, the St. Mary's Parish community, and to the lives of young adults are truly inspiring, and she is beyond deserving of this recognition. We are blessed to have you in our SJC family! Congratulations Mrs. Stevens! #ChristianWitness #FaithInAction

Tomorrow, February 28th, SJC will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day originally began in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has since been recognized annually worldwide as a day to stand against bullying. SJC continues to remain committed to extending a hand of friendship and exemplifying Christ so that all feel safe and cared for. #SJCStandsAgainstBullying

Happy Friday! Here’s a peak inside what was happening in Mme Wilms' classroom this week: ~Math 20-3 - For this week’s quiz, students had the opportunity to put their heads together and collaborate. All the groups worked very hard to complete the questions! ~Senior French - Students decided they wanted to adopt a French persona! This week, they received French names based on their first names and worked on name tags. These name tags will be used for in-class work such as presentations, team vs team games and role-play activities. #GoCrusaders #francais #personnages #creativité #math #groupquiz #collaborate
